What is a typical Community Group meeting schedule?

Groups meet weekly for 1.5 to 2 hours. They continue meeting for about nine months to one year.

How do I join a Community Group?

Group registration happens online twice a year, in January and August. When it opens, you’ll have the opportunity to view group options and register for the group that best fits your schedule, stage of life, and area of town.

The group I joined is no longer a great fit for me. How do I change groups?

When you joined your group, you received a confirmation email. Use the “MAKE A CHANGE” button at the bottom of your confirmation email to update your group registration. You’ll only be able to join a group that still has openings. If you cannot participate in a group this season, you can use the “MAKE A CHANGE” button at the bottom of your email to remove yourself from your group without joining a new one.

I missed the Community Group registration period, but I really want to be part of a group.

If any groups have openings after Group Launch week, we’d love to help you get connected. We’ll post a list of groups with openings a couple days after launch. You can register online if one of the groups matches your stage of life and meets at a place and time that works for you. Open group listings are active for about one week, and spots fill on a first-come, first-served basis.

You can also try a Short-Term Group. They’re like Community Groups, but they meet weekly for a short term to explore one topic. Short-Term Groups happen seasonally throughout the year. For more information, visit buckheadchurch.org/groups after post-launch Community Group registration is closed. 

In what areas of town do Buckhead Church groups meet?

The majority of our groups meet in these geographic areas:

  • Brookhaven/Chamblee
  • Buckhead 
  • Dunwoody/Sandy Springs
  • Midtown/Decatur
  • Smyrna/Vinings

Groups aren’t limited to these areas, however. If you don’t see your area of town listed, contact us. We’ll help you determine whether a group at a different Atlanta-area North Point Ministries church would be closer to you

Is childcare provided during regular group meetings?

Childcare is not provided, but we provide a childcare supplement (at a predetermined rate) if you need a babysitter in order to attend Group Launch or regular group meetings. 

What is the difference between a Community Group and the Group Launch event?

Community Groups are small groups of six married couples or eight to twelve individuals of the same gender who meet in homes to pursue spiritual growth and healthy relationships. Groups are provided an initial study from the church to get started, and then they decide their next study topics.

 

Group Launch is a 1.5-hour event at Buckhead Church designed for you to meet your Community Group for the first time. Group members will get to know one another over some icebreakers and light hors d’oeuvres.

How long does the Group Launch event last?

Group Launch is a 1.5-hour event that begins at 7:30 p.m. and ends by 9:00 p.m.

I didn’t join a group online. Can I join a group at the Group Launch event?

No. Groups don’t form at Group Launch. This event is the first meeting for groups that already formed online.

What if I can't attend my Group Launch event?

Don’t worry! Simply let the contact person for your group know (before 5:00 p.m. on your launch date) that you’ll miss the first group meeting, but you want to remain part of the group. Your contact will reserve a spot for you, and you can catch up with the group at the next meeting.

What happens at the Group Launch event?

Two days before your launch event, you’ll receive a logistics email that includes the table number where you’ll meet your group. When the Auditorium doors open, you’ll head straight to your table to check in with your group’s contact. They’ll have a nametag and intro study book ready for you. You’ll have time to get to know your group over icebreakers and appetizers, and you’ll plan your next group meeting. There will be a Questions Table staffed with helpful volunteers in case you need anything.
