As part of Buckhead Church’s efforts to help at-risk children in Atlanta, you have a chance to mentor an elementary student at Woodson Park Academy, a Title 1 school three miles west of Georgia Tech.
Submit your information to mentor next school year
A caring adult makes a difference in a child’s life. Mentoring builds self-esteem, improves numerous areas of academic performance, has a positive impact on attitudes, models positive citizenship, and expands horizons for children. You can make this kind of difference in a child’s life! Here’s how…
You will be paired with an elementary student of your grade preference. With your availability in mind, we’ll establish a set time during the school day for you to visit your student.
A mentor commits to visiting the school at least once a month from October through May to spend an hour with his or her student. We’ll provide you with curriculum to guide the time you spend with your student during that hour. The curriculum covers a different virtue each month and provides games and fun activities to do together. You may also help your student with his or her schoolwork. Mentors visit their student during the school week between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
All mentors must attend a training session and complete our background check before being paired with a student. Trainings typically occur during the month of September.
